The influence of geometry parameters of ring die on pelleting efficiency of biomass pellet mill

Generally speaking, the influence of geometry parameters of ring die on pelleting efficiency of biomass pellet mill is mainly reflected in the effective length of die hole, the size of aperture, the roughness of the die hole, distance between the die holes and the shape of die holes.

ring die biomass pellet mill

Small aperture ratio: the time of materials being pressed in the die holes is short, easy to squeezed out with high production efficiency and low power consumption. However, the quality of pellets produced is loose with higher powder content, irregular length and other quality problems;
Large aperture ratio: the time of materials being pressed in the die holes is longer and the production efficiency is low and the power consumption will increase as well. The pellet produced is solid with good strength. With the extending of the effective length of the die hole, granulating production would decline obviously and the die hold may even get blocked. In order to obtain the best performance of pelleting and reach the best state of yield and quality, appropriate compression ratio of ring die is very important.

When being used to make pellets, each material has its own appropriate aperture ratio. Ring die should be used according to the nature of the various raw materials, crushing granularity and mechanical properties. If the aperture ratio of ring die is not suitable for granulating, it is necessary to adjust the formula of raw material, because the ultimate goal is to reach the best pelleting efficiency.

The influence of the clearance between the die and roller on the granulating efficiency:
1) Excessive clearance: if the clearance of the die and roller is too large, the material layer in the pressing area will be thicker that the pressure would increase as well as the current of main motor. Besides, the running resistance of the roller increases, which would lead to the roller slippage and vibration phenomenon of pellet machine, thus reducing the pelleting production down, sometimes no pellet can be produced.
(2) Smaller clearance: when the clearance of the die and roller is too small, they would contact direct and produce mechanical wear, seriously affecting the service life of pellet machine. The guiding mouth of the ring die would deform due to the mechanical wear of roller shell, resulting in the feeding difficulties of die holes, decline in granulating production or even shut down.
(3) The normal clearance: when rotating the ring die by hand, a quarter of the working face can drive the roller shell or drive intermittently, such clearance can conform to the requirements of the pelleting.

Many customers who invest in biomass pellet mill for the first time often have such doubt that can pure sawdust, straw, rice husk or wood powder be made into biomass pellet by the biomass pellet mill? Do they need to add other additional things, such as adhesive? The answer is absolutely no. The pure sawdust, straw, rice husk can be directly pressed into dense and smooth biomass pellet fuel...
