How to choose a pellet mill

Pellet mills can be divided into flat die and ring die pellet mill. While the ring die pellet mill is further divided into two types: the vertical type and the horizontal type. When purchasing a pellet mill, the first thing to consider is the raw materials (sawdust, straw, bamboo chips, rice husk, etc.). Choose your own pellet mill according to your own raw materials. Secondly, you need to know your output. If the output is usually less than 1 t/h, you’d better use a flat die pellet mill; for the output of more than 1 t/h, we recommend the ring die wood pellet mill. In the purchasing of a pellet mill, you need to pay attention to the following aspects:

1 The quality of appearance. The spray paint in the surface of the machine shell should be uniform and firm. Holiday, runs or sags are not allowed. The plating layer of chromed parts should be firm, bright in surface, and without sag and corrosion. Stainless steel parts should be smooth in surface, without damage and should be processed with regular polishing markings. 
 
2. In addition to check the fastening condition of body and bottom frame, motor (or diesel engine) and chassis, for flat die pellet mill, we should check the device quality of abrasive tools lock nut and particle cutting knife first. For ring die pellet mill, we should make sure whether the fastening bolts of the abrasive tools have been tightened first. And check the fastening condition of the roller support and the roller.
 
3. The clearance adjustment between the roller and the inner wall of the ring die. Put two layers of paper between the press wheel and the inner wall of the ring die, and they can be extracted with a little hard. After adjustment, the adjust nut should be tightened, and installed the shield. After making sure there is no foreign object in the shield and the ring die, rolling the ring die by hand, then the main shaft should roll nimbly, without stagnation phenomenon or sound of touching. 
 
4 Check whether the ring die will leap in the rolling and rub other parts. Open the powder feeder into the stranding cage to see whether there is foreign body in the cage. Rolling the cage shaft by hand, the shaft of the cage should be rolling smooth, without the noise of rub.
 
5 Open and close the door of ring die limiting warehouse repeatedly. Check whether it can be opened and closed easily and close tight. The sealing and reliability of the connection between the ring die limiting chamber and the powder feeding cage should be particularly noted. Usually the request is: accurate position, no leakage of powder. After checking the warehouse door, check the joint seal condition of the door from the side door. If sealed and lax circumstance appears, you can ajust the fixed bolt of compartment door hinge which can effectively obstruct the powder leakage.  
 
6 Adjust different directions of the particle cutter, and repeatedly lock nut to check whether its function is reliable.  
 
7 Security check. A safety linkage on the spindle is set up in large and medium size of ring die pellet machines to avoid foreign body into the machine, which may damage the machine. When a foreign body is into the ring die, the resistance of the main shaft will increase dramatically, so that the safety cock of the safety linkage device and spindle interlock breaks. At this time, the convex side of the linkage device will immediately trigger the shifting fork of a travel switch to intercept power of the spindle motor and protect the pellet machine from being damaged. Therefore, when purchasing a ring die pellet machine, we must check carefully whether the convex edge of the spindle safety linkage device can trigger travel switch’s shifting fork. if it can’t move or the move is not in place, it cannot ensure useful operation of the travel switch. Then do not purchase it. The ring die of pellet feed machine is a rotating part when particles are restricted to feed. In order to avoid the injury of the operator when the ring die is in work, a travel switch series with the spindle motor power is installed in the limit chamber door of some ring die pellet feed machine. As long as the ring die limit compartment door has been closed, the power supply of the spindle motor can be connected. The view methods of travel switch is the same with the safety linkage device. It is necessary to install a security magnet in the powder feeder of pellet mill, and check whether it can function well; No matter what kind of transmission the pellet mill uses, its driving parts: pulley, drive shaft and a flange should be equipped with special and useful protective cover. The protection cover will keep the equipment strong enough and protect the operator's safety.
  
8 Trial run of the machine. Before the test run, check the lubrication of the gear box and the lubrication points in the machine. Move bake the cutting tool of the ring die pellet mill to the maximum bearing, and check whether the rotating direction of the spindle motor is the same with the direction marked on the machine by plugging in suddenly. If the direction is opposite, it is necessary to stop at once and plug in phase commutation. To start the test, you should prepare to stop at any time, the first test time can not be too long. When no abnormal condition appears, make the machine into a continuous working condition later. There should be no irregular vibration, crash of gear and rubbing between the feed reel and shaft when the machine idlings. When the test run of the machine idlings is normal, test of the pellet feed machine can be carried out on the load. Feeding proper powder feed into the cage, check the current reading of the main motor, and make the machine run on the medium load.
 
9 Product check. The pellets should be smooth in appearance and can not be cracked. There is a certain surface hardness of the pellets. It is difficult to be crushed by hand. Pellets produced at the same time should be uniform in product specifications. The qualified rate of the products can not be less than 95%.
 
10 Choose the applicable tools. When choosing tools, the first thing we should pay attention is whether the appearance and size of abrasive tool is in line with the requirements of the relevant technical specifications, and whether there are production defects. The surface of each device of the abrasive tool must have a certain degree of smoothness. Abrasives tools are necessary to be made through heat treatment, which can be seen from the surface color of the abrasive tool. Die holes in the abrasive tool should be scattered evenly, there should be certain regularity of arrangement and symmetry. Die holes on the same piece of abrasive tool should be the same size, and the orifice edge without burr. The openings of abrasive tool holes should have certain taper, there should be better smoothness in the inner of holes and the external orifice should be in structured rules. Do not buy abrasives tools with a blind hole or defect.
 
11 When purchasing the pellet mill, there is a need to purchase the corresponding equipments. Therefore, the users should clarify the major species and primary purpose of pellets reserve limits to the factory’s technical personnel, and then determine the type and number of ancillary equipments by both of you.
 
Finally, you’d better go to factorys for field trips. You can go to the manufacturers of pellet mill to study, and also go to other similar manufacturers to investigate. Then choose the appropriate pellet machine according to your own conditions.
