Pellet mill makes straw profitable

Burning straws not only causes environmental pollution, but also losts part of value of the straw. A good measure to deal with the straw is that some people crush straws directly in the field and mix them with soil so that the soil fertility could be improved. Currently, the most popular way is to make straws into pellets for combustion through pellet mills.

 
 

As a result of the "coal ban", many manufacturers have to change the combustion mode and they use biomass pellet as fuels instead of coal. Corn straws can be made into straw pellets by the pellet mill after being crushed by the crusher. The straw pellets produced can be used for domestic heating, power plant, factory application and the farmers feed for storage. It is a state support environmental protection project which is cost saving and environmental protection.

 

Attention on storage of corn straws

1. To make feed pellets with straw pellet mills, the raw materials should have certain amount of sugar content. The general content should be at least 1%-1.5% of fresh weight.Corn, sorghum stalks, sweet potato vine contain proper amount or much soluble carbohydrates, they are better silages.

2. The moisture content of straws should be moderate. Generally, for feed pellets, the moisture content is required to be about 15%-20%. If the material is too dry or too wet, it will not only affect the molding rate, but destroys the nutrients inside the straw, which is bad for keeping pigs or other animals.

 

3. The straw should be crushed at first so that it is easy to store and mold can be avoid.

4. After crushing, the straw must be sealed, which is a very important link. In order to make raw materials suitable for production with straw pellet mills, air and water leakage should be prevented. The color of the feed is closer to the original color, the better the quality would be. If the color turns brown or dark green, it shows poor quality of the feed. Natural silage has a sour flavor, while the feed in poor quality may have a stale smell.
