Factors affecting the output value of pellet mills

A lot of customers will encounter the situation of production decrease in the production process. In fact, there are a lot of factors affecting the production of pellet mills. I will give you a detailed analysis below:

1.Grease
Adding a few grease (0.5%~ 1%) would help to reduce the wear of pellet mill parts, and the pellets will be more easily to pass through the die holes and the pelletizing production will be increased. However when the increasing amount is more than 2 percent, it will make the pellets loosen and difficult to forming. Therefore, when increasing high dose of grease, you’d better increase 30% of the total amount in the mixer and 70% sprayed in the pellet mill.

2.Crude fiber
Crude fiber is a very important factor in the process of straw pelletizing. If the content of crude fiber is too much, the adhesive will be poor, thus it is difficult to forming. However, if the content is too small, it is also not conducive to forming. The appropriate crude fiber content (3-5%) will not only conducive to the bond of the granular materials, reduce the pulverization rate of pellets, but also increase the output value. But if the crude fiber content is more than 10%, the hardness and forming rate of pellets will be influenced by the poor bonding. Furthermore, it will increase the mechanical wear, and reduce the pelletizing production.

3.Moisture content
Excessive moisture content of raw material will reduce the increasing amount of the steam in the pelletizing, and affect the raise of pelletizing temperature, then the output and quality of pellet feed would be affected. Meanwhile, excessive moisture content of raw material will also make it difficult for conditioning and the materials are easy to slip between the inner wall of the ring die and the press roller, and causes the ring die holes blocking. Usually the moisture content of material should below 13% before conditioning.

The moisture content of material may remain higher than the required for pelletization. Therefore drying system is needed to reduce moisture content to about 12%-15% for pelletization.

4.Protein
Materials with high protein content are with high plasticity after heating, the viscosity and production will be increased. But if the non-protein nitrogen ( such as urea) content is high, the pelletizing production will be decreased.

5. Starch
If the starch content of the grain is high, it is easy to pelletizing under high temperature and high moisture, thus the output is high. At the moment tempering water should between 16% and 18%. Conditioning temperature should be above 80℃. Otherwise, poor starch gelatinization degree will lead to brittle pellets, or the pellets can not be formed well. If the cereal is cooked before conditioning (such as drying corn), then the pelletizing production would be reduced. Therefore, you’d better not choose materials that have been dried during the acquisition of materials.

6.Materials
For heat sensitive feed, the viscosity of lactose and whey powder will increase after heating, it will increase the production. But if the temperature is more than 60℃, it is easy to appear coking, die holes blocking, which will affect the pelletizing production. Therefore, for this kind of feed, warm water can be used when conditioning.

Materials

7.Minerals
Inorganic feed is almost without cohesion, its pelletizing function is poor, which will affect the pelletizing production. Therefore, when the inorganic matter content is high, few binder (such as molasses) is usually added to the material to improve the function of pelletizing and increase the output of pellet machine.

Pellet mills can be divided into flat die and ring die pellet mill. While the ring die pellet mill is further divided into two types: the vertical type and the horizontal type. When purchasing a pellet mill, the first thing to consider is the raw materials (sawdust, straw, bamboo chips, rice husk, etc).
