1, Wear resistance: the damage of most of the ring die in biomass pellet mill is caused by the wear. After using for a period of time, the surface of ring die would wear and the die holes would be enlarged. Moreover, the wear resistance of ring die changes with its surface hardness, microstructure and chemical composition.It is mainly determined by the material and the method of heat treatment.
2, Corrosion resistance: some added materials would lead to pitting corrosion under high temperature and high pressure and further corrode the die. Corrosion resistance is one of the most critical factors influencing the properties of the ring die. The die of high carbon and high chromium has the best corrosion resistance ability.
3, Toughness: during the operation of biomass pellet mill, the rind die bears huge impact, which would lead to the damage of ring die. Besides, overtime working could also cause fatigue damage of the ring die. The material selection, heat treatment, opening rate of the die are the important factors influencing the toughness of the ring die.

1, Wear resistance and toughness: improve the hardness of the die can increase its wear resistance. However, it will reduce the toughness of the die and increase its brittleness, so we must limit the hardness of the die to meet the minimum level of using.
2, Wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness: poor metal structure and corrosion resistance of the ring die will reduce its wear resistance, and the impact resistant ability would be poor and easy to crack.
3, Toughness and opening rate: the increase of opening rate may result in the crack of the die easily.
