Ring die pellet mill or flat die pellet mill?

Pellet mill has two main models: flat die pellet mill and ring die pellet mill. Both of them have their own advantages in making biomass pellet. But there is a kind of vertical ring die pellet machine, which would not be introduced here.



Ring die wood pellet mill has the features of large output, good molding and high density of 1-1.3. No additives are needed in the production of pellet with wood pellet mill. The wear of the roller and ring die is balanced, which can reduce the consumption of easy wear parts. However, it has the shortcoming of high power consumption.

And the advantages of the flat die wood pellet mill are small energy consumption, large flexibility, suitable for small family workshop and inappropriate for large-scale operation. The shortcomings of flat die wood pellet mill are the low production, low pressure, difficult discharging and poor forming. The wear of ring die and roller would be imbalanced if the working surface get widened, which can not reach a bigger output. Besides, disassembling of the machine parts is tedious and the maintenance is also troublesome.
      
In a word, the advantages of ring die pellet mill are the shortcomings of flat die pellet mill and vice versa. But it is recommended to use ring die pellet mill as the main equipment of large-scale biomass pellet plant. The production of biomass pellet can not have great development without large scale operation, let alone the profit. Just the consumption of fittings would be unable to stand.

Ring die pellet mill is a good helper in making feed, especially the concentrated feed. It has large output and less consumption, which are incomparable for flat die pellet machine. While due to the lower speed of flat die pellet mill, its output is lower than the ring die pellet mill.

The raw material of concentrated feed are mainly corn and soybean meal with large viscosity and easy for molding. While large pressure is needed when processing sawdust, straw, grass meal, old tires and other crude fibers of difficult molding and organic fertilizer granulation of the urban living garbage, sewage treatment and animal manure, etc. Due to the structure limitation of ring die pellet mill, its pressure is not adjustable so that processing these materials would exceed the pressure load, resulting in wear or broken of die, roller or bearing. Flat die pellet machine has great advantages due to its simple structure, adjustable pressure and adaptable to different materials.

In addition, although the flat die pellet mill has structure advantage and less wear, its output is small, which is generally 300-3000 kg. Thus, if you want to complete the production of 3 tons, you can choose the ring die pellet mill. But this is only suitable for corn stalk granulation, since corn stalk can be processed easily.
