The difference of wood pellet fuel and coal

1. The carbon content. The carbon content of fuel pellet used in biomass boiler is less and the highest carbon content is only 50%, which is lower compared to the heating value of coal-fired boiler.
2. The hydrogen content. The hydrogen content of fuel pellet used in biomass boiler is slightly higher with significant volatility. Most carbon in biomass combines with hydrogen into low molecular hydrocarbons, which would be separated out volatile to a certain temperature after thermal decomposition, so the biomass fuel is easy to ignite.
3. The oxygen content. The fuel pellet used in biomass boiler contains more oxygen, which is significantly more than coal. It makes the calorific value of biomass pellet fuel lower.
4. The density. The density of pellet fuel is small and significantly lower than coal. The texture is loose and easy to burnout. The amount of residual carbon in the charcoal is less than the carbon content in the coal ash.
5. The sulfur content. The sulfur content of pellet fuel is lower, usually less than 0.12% so that boiler doesn't have to set the desulfurization device.
6. The release of CO2 of pellet fuel is lower. It can be thought of as zero CO2 emissions compared with coal-fired boiler.
7. The ash produced after the burning of biomass pellet can be used to make chemical fertilizer, the wastes can be recycled.
8. Biomass pellet can be blended with coal for combustion to increase the combustion efficiency.
9. The combustion of biomass pellet fuel can realize reduction, harmless and recycling utilization of biomass waste.
 
As an agricultural country, the source biological wood pellet fuel in our country is quite rich.
